Mustafa, the Sudanese-Canadian artist based in Toronto, has been actively involved in hosting charity events for Gaza and Sudan in New Jersey and London. Alongside this, he has been working on his debut album and has already shared several singles from it, such as “Gaza Is Calling,” “Imaan,” “Name Of God,” and “SNL.” His latest release, “Old Life,” delves into themes of nostalgia, separation, and enduring love in the face of tragedy.
Describing the track, Mustafa expresses, “‘Old Life’ is about reminiscence, and separation, and romance being a life sentence even in tragedy.” The heartfelt lyrics include lines like, “You must hate me by now/ You won’t see me again/ But I look nothing like/ I did back then/ I know you heard all about how hard it’s been,” sung against a backdrop of layered strings. The music video for the song can be viewed below.
