Katie Gavin from MUNA Launches First Solo Track “Aftertaste”
Katie Gavin of MUNA has revealed her debut solo project, What A Relief, set to release in October under Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records. The album includes a feature by Mitski. Gavin shares that the album delves into her experiences and desires for connection, addressing obstacles to love honestly.
Accompanying the album announcement, Gavin has introduced her lead single, “Aftertaste,” along with a music video. She describes the track as capturing the feeling of being drawn to someone and the excitement of potential love.
“Aftertaste” serves as a connection between MUNA’s style and my upcoming solo endeavor. It depicts a sweet yearning for someone, confessing feelings and hoping for mutual affection,” explains Gavin.
Gavin also discusses the music video concept where she takes part in a nude drawing class, a collaboration with director Alexa Viscius and the Chicago-based team, reflecting on her roots.
Recently, Gavin and MUNA performed at Pitchfork Music Festival with Alanis Morissette. Check out “Aftertaste” below.
