Mount Eerie Announces New Album Night Palace, Shares Two New Songs

Mount Eerie’s Latest Album Night Palace and Two New Songs

Mount Eerie, also known as Phil Elverum, has announced a new album titled Night Palace, marking his first release in five years. The album, set to be released on November 1 under Elverum’s P.W. Elverum & Sun label, includes the live addition “& Sun.” Additionally, two tracks from the album, “I Walk” and “Broom Of Wind” with an accompanying music video by Indigo Free, have been shared.

Night Palace boasts 26 tracks and is described as a spiritual successor to Mount Eerie’s previous work, resembling the style of the Microphones’ 2001 album The Glow pt. 2, featuring analog fuzz, lo-fi sonic experiments, and pastoral balladry, all recorded in Elverum’s reel-to-reel studio in the woods.

In a press release, it was stated that the songs on the album reflect themes of surrendering to wonder and rejecting skepticism, along with addressing decolonization and backwoods protest. Elverum humorously commented, “Some zen, some Zinn.”
