Mogwai Releases New Single “God Gets You Back”
In January, Mogwai revealed their upcoming documentary titled If The Stars Had A Sound. This Scottish post-rock band, known for their enduring legacy, largely highlights the process behind their 2021 album As The Love Continues. Now, they have expanded their collection with a fresh single called “God Gets You Back.”
This new track features Mogwai’s signature style, characterized by substantial, resonant chords and an immersive development over its nearly seven-minute duration. There’s an element of melodic synth-pop in the song, influenced by an unexpected source: Barry Burns shared that his daughter contributed to the lyrics. “The song needed some melody or vocals, but I couldn’t come up with the lyrics so I asked my seven-year-old daughter to make some up, and she did and I sang them,” he mentioned in a press release, proving that creativity often flows from youthful perspectives.
