Singer Maren Morris is preparing to release her upcoming EP, “Intermission.” Following the release of the lead single “cut!” last month, she now presents the heartfelt track “i hope i never fall in love.”
In a statement, Morris described the song as a reflection on a tumultuous experience. It captures the emotions of self-protection while still longing for connection. She expressed the complex feelings of wanting to heal but being cautious about love, showcasing a mix of emotions through partying, casual encounters, and champagne. Although she desires love again, she acknowledges her need for emotional recovery, leading to this poignant song.
Additionally, on Instagram, Morris mentioned that “i hope i never fall in love” carries a nostalgic ’60s sound, blending melancholy with a timeless quality. The song invites listeners to experience a mix of emotions, blending pain with joy.
The EP Intermission will be released on 8/2 via Columbia.
