Mabe Fratti Reveals “Quieras o no” on TunesDeck

Mabe Fratti – “Quieras o no”

Mabe Fratti from Mexico City is set to release a new album titled Sentir Que No Sabes this Friday. Following the earlier release of the track “Enfrente” last month, the innovative cellist now unveils another single titled “Quieras o no,” along with an engaging interactive website.

“Quieras o no” (“Whether you want it or not”) initially evolved from an impromptu live performance, which Fratti and her collaborator Héctor Tosta developed into a fully produced song. Known for her skills as a cellist who also sings, Fratti has often been compared to Arthur Russell, yet this track’s minimalist arrangement, haunting vocoder, and fluid melodies justify such comparisons. Fratti shared her insights on “Quieras o no” in a press statement:

Héctor and I started working on it as the final song we were going to record and conceived the outro of the song: he drew inspiration from the old Godzilla theme song, and that led us to craft the rapid melody. The lyrics delve into the complexities surrounding us, tied to inevitable entropy, and how our attempts to hold on to something clash with the essence of chaos (our inherent inclination to cling onto and artificially preserve things most of the time). Ultimately, as Gibran (Andrade) would put it, we are all deeply neurotic.

The interactive platform, MabeFratti.World, is portrayed as a “dynamic landscape” where “impermeable catastrophe reigns supreme.” Explore the website here, and watch the music video for “Quieras o no” below.

Sentir Que No Sabes will be available on 6/28 through Unheard Of Hope.
