There’s a perspective that Lenny Kravitz is genuinely talented, although it often overlooks his hit single from 1999, “Fly Away,” which was widely played on the radio and initially considered by some as lacking substance. Revisiting the song today reveals its repetitive nature but also its funkiness, adding a certain appeal. Recently, Lenny Kravitz has unveiled a new rendition of the track, this time in collaboration with Quavo.
Quavo, the former member of Migos, recently teamed up with Lana Del Rey for the song “Tough,” suggesting a new phase of exploring different genres. In this latest release, “Fly,” produced by Andrew Watt and Cirkut, the track moves beyond sampling to become a full-fledged cover. With trap drums and Migos-style flow, “Fly” refreshes the original “Fly Away.” While it may not be a groundbreaking innovation, the collaboration is worth a listen. Check it out below.
“Fly” is now available on Quality Control/Motown, with a video directed by Jake Nava set to debut later today. For more insights, check out our interview with Lenny Kravitz in We’ve Got A File On You.
