Laura Marling, the acclaimed British folk artist, is preparing to release her new album Patterns In Repeat, which marks her return to music as a mother after the 2020 album Song For Our Daughter. With the arrival of her daughter, Marling has introduced a couple of tracks, including “Patterns” and “No One’s Gonna Love You Like I Can,” and now she has unveiled the opening song from her upcoming LP.
The track “Child Of Mine” is a heartfelt lullaby dedicated to Marling’s child. In a recent announcement, she shared that the song was created during an intimate moment when she was soothing her newborn. She reminisced about how, after a spell of not writing, she picked up her guitar while her daughter was just four weeks old, leading to the inspiration for this touching piece and the idea to produce a new album.
The album Patterns In Repeat is set to be released on October 25th through Partisan/Chrysalis.
