The emo/post-hardcore band L.S. Dunes debuted their album Past Lives in 2022 and has been consistently releasing new singles, with their latest, “Fatal Deluxe,” dropping last month. Leading up to their performance at the When We Were Young festival this weekend, they have now revealed another new track and announced their upcoming album, Violet.
Scheduled for release early next year, Violet will not include many of the previously released singles. The band once again collaborated with producer Will Yip. Their latest song, “Machines,” is an uplifting track that blends melodic elements with intense screams. Frontman Anthony Green, known for his work with Circa Survive and Saosin, expressed his feelings about the new album:
“I became so sick of playing the song where I sing, ‘Sorry that I wish that I was dead,’ and I truly regret writing that song. Although it resonates with many, it hasn’t been beneficial for me to perform it regularly. For this album, I aimed to create something that highlights the magic in the world—celebrating music and its power to connect and inspire. I wanted to craft a message that contrasts significantly with that song, something that expresses a desire to live.”
Frank Iero, who is also part of My Chemical Romance, co-directed the music video with David Brodsky, which playfully embraces the term “supergroup” by depicting the band performing on a kitschy ’70s talk show while winning over a doubtful audience. You can watch the video and see the album’s tracklist below.
