The Mets’ shortstop, Jose Iglesias, is venturing into the music industry. He has been promoting his latest track, “OMG,” throughout June, using t-shirts with QR codes on the sleeve. Recently, he performed the song at Citi Field after a victory, and it is now officially released under the artist name Candelita.”
In an interview with SNY’s Steve Gelbs, Iglesias shared, “This is all about energy. This is all about winning. The guys loved it, and I’m very humble to make this song. The fans were clicking with it. We’re on a roll, everything is right where it needs to be, and oh my god I’m so happy.”
Some attribute the Mets’ winning streak to Grimace, who threw the inaugural pitch that kickstarted the victories. Additionally, Orville Peck performed the National Anthem at Pride Night, adding to the team’s momentum. Check out clips of his performance and listen to “OMG” below.
