Singer-songwriter Joanna Sternberg has released a new single titled “A Country Dance,” marking their third standalone track following the success of their last year’s Album Of The Week, I’ve Got Me. This vibrant song is featured in the upcoming movie Between The Temples, directed by Nathan Silver and featuring actors Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane.
Produced in Upstate New York by Alex Wenquest, “A Country Dance” was inspired by Sternberg’s friend Sami Bronowski, who was pivotal in encouraging Joanna to perform publicly. Sternberg humorously shares, “The irony of the song lies in the fact that I’m not a dancer, I don’t drink wine, I’m not an outdoorsy person, and I absolutely steer clear of nature due to allergies and insect phobias. However, I wanted to create a whimsical and nonsensical song to reflect the joy I share with my dear friend.”
Reflecting on the song’s inclusion in Between The Temples, Sternberg adds, “I believe the song resonates with this enchanting film as it evokes a carefree and imaginative essence. Its ambiguous lyrics allow for versatile interpretations, setting a light-hearted and playful tone.”
The film Between The Temples is set to premiere on 8/23 in theaters. Dive into “A Country Dance” below.
