Joan As Police Woman – “Long For Ruin”

Introducing Joan As Police Woman’s Latest Single “Long For Ruin”

With a music career spanning three decades, American rock icon Joan As Police Woman has collaborated with acclaimed artists like Lou Reed, Rufus Wainwright, Damon Albarn, and John Cale. Her upcoming album, Lemons, Limes And Orchids, marks her tenth studio release. The album’s lead single, “Long For Ruin,” is now available for listeners.

Reflecting on the track, Joan Wasser shared, “This song delves into humanity’s apparent drift away from introspection, empathy, and unity. It explores our tendencies towards self-destruction and reluctance to share resources and understanding. We appear disconnected from ourselves and consequently from one another.”

Discussing Lemons, Limes And Orchids, she expressed, “I aimed to create an album that prominently showcases my vocals. The foundation of the recording process was akin to traditional methods—capturing live vocals alongside the band. A dear friend remarked that this might be my most alluring album to date. I genuinely agree with her sentiment.”

The album features Meshell Ndegeocello on bass, Chris Bruce on guitar (known for work with Seal, Trevor Horn, and Alanis Morisette), Daniel Mintseris on keys (recognized for collaborations with St. Vincent, David Byrne, and Elvis Costello & The Imposters), and drummers Parker Kindred and Otto Hauser (known for contributions to Jeff Buckley and Liam Gallagher projects). This release follows her 2021 album, The Solution Is Restless. Listen to “Long For Ruin” below.

The official release date for Lemons, Limes And Orchids is slated for 9/20 under Play It Again Sam label.
