Jamila Woods – New Track “Teach Me” on TunesDeck

Jamila Woods – “Teach Me”

Recently, Jamila Woods, the talented singer from Chicago, released her latest track “Teach Me,” produced by oddCouple (Zach Henderson). The song originates from a prompt by the University Of Illinois-Chicago’s Portal Project focused on climate justice. All earnings will aid in supporting hunger relief in Sudan.

Woods explains the inspiration behind “Teach Me”:

“Teach Me” was created following a prompt from the Portal Project to compose a song addressing climate justice. Collaborating with oddCouple, the lyrics urge for love to be expressed better towards the Earth, emphasizing respect and co-habitation in a just and sustainable manner. The writing draws wisdom from Colette Pichon Battle, adrienne maree brown, and Dr. Vandana Shiva.

Proceeds from the track will be contributed to the Sudanese American Physician’s Association’s “Sudan Food Donation Program.” This initiative focuses on combating food insecurity, especially in regions affected by conflicts in Sudan. Their efforts go beyond immediate hunger relief by promoting agriculture, educating communities, supporting local farmers, and empowering individuals to ensure food security and eradicate hunger, ultimately uplifting communities in the long run.
