Chicago’s ira glass caught our attention last year with their unique name and captivating sound. They have just announced the release of their debut EP, compound turbulence flexing for the heat, which includes the single “where’d you get the candy baby lol”.
The track “where’d you get the candy baby lol” is a follow-up to their previous release, “nancy’s hell”. The EP was recorded at Electrical Audio and is a tribute to the late Steve Albini, the founder of the studio.
This EP marks ira glass’ first studio album, showcasing their creativity within limited resources. The band incorporated toy glockenspiels, a vintage Wurlitzer piano, and vocal processing units used by prominent bands like the Cars, Cocteau Twins, and ELO. The current lineup includes Lise Ivanova, Sunny Betz, Landon Kerouac, Jill Roth, and Kaleb Wallace.
“where’d you get the candy baby lol” continues the band’s intense and explosive style. The EP also features tracks like “bruxism in 8mm”, “not to put too fine a point on it”, and “[consider It] water under the bridge”.
ira glass will be performing at various venues, including Logan Square Arts Festival and Cole’s Bar for their EP release show. The EP, compound turbulence flexing for the heat, will be available on 7/12 through Fire Talk / Angel Tapes.
