Hope Of The States Reuniting For First Shows In 18 Years

Hope Of The States, an English band known for their proggy post-rock music, is set to reunite for their first live performances in 18 years with three shows in the UK this December.

Following the release of their second album Left, the band disbanded in 2006, hinting at it being their final show during their performance at Reading Festival that year. Frontman Sam Herlihy later confirmed their breakup, citing a sense of being “cursed” after the tragic loss of guitarist Jimmi Lawrence in 2004. In a recent interview with NME, Herlihy expressed his excitement about the reunion, stating:

Initially hesitant about reuniting, I was always proud of our work as a band. However, external factors overshadowed our music, making me consider leaving it behind. Now, as we approach 20 years since our debut album, I realized it would be meaningful to reunite with my bandmates. Besides, my kids are supportive too!

In addition to the reunion shows, Hope Of The States is collaborating with producer Jolyon Thomas on new music. Their debut album is also receiving a remastered vinyl reissue. Below are the dates for their upcoming shows:

TOUR DATES:
12/04 – Manchester, UK @ Deaf Institute
12/05 – Glasgow, UK @ Stereo
12/06 – London, UK @ The Dome
