Exciting News from Fentanyl: Debut Album Announcement
A fresh hardcore punk supergroup known as Fentanyl, hailing from San Francisco, is making headlines. The band comprises members from Spiritual Cramp, Spy, and World Peace. Their very first self-titled album is set to drop in September. Today, they’ve released a sneak peek of three songs: “Or So I Thought,” “Blind,” and “Detached.”
Lead singer Kenneth Turner shed light on the album in a statement:
The album can be described as noisy. It embodies the essence of hardcore music—it’s raucous, ear-piercing, incredibly vivid, and even though the guitars aren’t overly distorted, there are moments of sheer heaviness. Having grown up listening to punk on crappy car speakers, I always envisioned Fentanyl to sound like it’s playing in a 2003 Honda Civic. I might have taken it a bit too far with the tone, but ultimately, it sets us apart.
The lineup of Fentanyl consists of Kenneth Turner on vocals, Thomas Sherry on bass, Josh Mendoza on drums, and guitarists Carlos Cruz, Nathaniel Punty, and Derek Kanowsky. The trio of songs unveiled today perfectly encapsulates the band’s “noisy” style—intense, harsh, and fittingly brief. Dive into the singles and peruse the tracklist for Fentanyl below.
