Introducing Grumpy, a fresh addition to Bayonet Records. Led by Heaven Schmitt from New York, the project features Schmitt’s ex-partners on bass and keyboard, and their former spouse on drums. The band unveils their latest EP Wolfed and their partnership with Bayonet, along with the release of the intriguing and unconventional lead single “Saltlick.”
Describing the song, Schmitt shared, “Peanuts scatter at the bottom of my bag, slowly creating chaos that seems inconsequential yet impacts my mood. I plan an outfit that would infuriate my ex-spouse; wicked and extravagant. I feel liberated and unrestricted, disintegrating into smaller pieces like peanuts, salty, with a dying phone.”
In 2020, Grumpy launched their first album, Loser. Reflecting on the album-making process, Schmitt admitted, “I delegated too many decisions, convincing myself I couldn’t handle it. I made a pact to only release music that truly resonated with me. It took time, but I acquired the skills to express myself, produce, and have confidence in my artistic identity. Now, my creations truly reflect who I am. Not only am I enjoying this EP more, but by taking control of production, I’ve gained a newfound self-assurance as an artist.”
