Growing Stone – “Spring In New York”

Growing Stone Unveils “Spring In New York” on TunesDeck

Skylar Sarkis, widely recognized as the frontman of Taking Meds, is set to launch his first full album under Growing Stone titled Death Of A Momma’s Boy this Friday. Preceding tracks like “The Keep” and “No Substitute,” a new haunting track named “Spring In New York” is now out, accompanied by a music video directed by Luke LeCount.

Sarkis expressed his sentiment, saying, “This is my favorite track from the album. It’s empowering to convey these feelings through a song, as often, it’s the only outlet for them. What I love about this song is that my longtime friend, Matt Battle, played the drums. He’s a phenomenal drummer who mentored me in my youth, and it’s great that we still create music together.”

LeCount shared his thoughts on the video:

The inspiration for this video was twofold; I’ve long wanted to pay homage to Man Ray’s “Suicide” self-portraits in some form, and Skylar was one of the few artists who would appreciate and grasp the reference. Additionally, I aimed to capture the essence of the song, which to me, felt raw. When I first listened to “Spring in New York” (years ago as a demo), I sensed a newfound openness in Skylar’s emotions through his music. I envisioned a video that was slightly unhinged and cold, reflecting certain aspects of Skylar as I see them.

Death Of A Momma’s Boy will be available on 6/28 through Near Mint.
