Gillian Welch & David Rawlings – “Empty Trainload Of Sky”

The highly awaited return of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings with a new album titled Woodland is just around the corner after a four-year hiatus. The album pays homage to their Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, which faced significant damage from a tornado but is now fully operational. In anticipation of the release, the duo shared insights about the project and its significance:

The essence of Woodland is integral to our creative process for the past two decades. The last four years have been dedicated to its revival following the 2020 tornado, culminating in the making of this album. The music embodies a tapestry of conflicting emotions – emptiness, fullness, elation, sorrow, devastation, and endurance. Presently.

Accompanying the album revelation is the unveiling of the opening track, “Empty Trainload Of Sky,” a soulful folk tune with bluesy undertones.
