Fucked Up: Unveiling “Divining Gods” Music on TunesDeck

Fucked Up – “Divining Gods”

The upcoming album from Fucked Up, titled Another Day and following last year’s One Day, is set to release this summer. Leading up to the album release, they’ve introduced singles like “Stimming” and the title track. Their newest release is “Divining Gods.”

“Divining Gods” is intense and high-energy, serving as a sequel to the track “Nothing’s Immortal” from One Day. Both songs revolve around the concept of idolizing individuals. While the first track dealt with the disappointment of realizing a revered person’s fallibility, “Divining Gods” questions the act of idolizing humans altogether. Vocalist Damian Abraham elaborates:

Modern society has seen a decline in religion, leading to the fervent adoration of idols. This phenomenon extends from cultural icons to even punk music stars, where we tend to elevate our musical heroes to godlike status. However, placing humans on pedestals often ends in disappointment.

People will inevitably let us down, just as we will disappoint others. It is a reflection of our humanity to not always meet expectations. So, what happens to those who idolize without faith? New idols will emerge, new followings will form, only to face eventual disillusionment. The cycle of emptiness and adoration continues cyclically.

It serves as a pertinent reflection! Take a listen to “Divining Gods” below.

Self-release of Another Day is scheduled for 8/9.
