This year, Austrian guitarist Christian Fennesz released an instrumental piece titled “Sognati di Domani” and announced his upcoming album, Mosaic, planned for September. However, September has passed without its release. Now, Fennesz has revealed the details for Mosaic, which is set to come out later this year and will not include “Sognati di Domani.”
Scheduled for release, Mosaic marks the first solo album from Fennesz in five years. Although he collaborated with the Italian duo Ozmotic on the album S e n z a t e m p o last year, his last personal album was 2019’s Agora, which also followed a five-year hiatus. For Mosaic, Fennesz implemented a structured routine during 2023 and 2024 to develop and refine his tracks through improvisation.
Fennesz has also shared the first track from Mosaic, titled “Heliconia.” This nine-minute instrumental piece beautifully balances tranquility and unease. You can listen to “Heliconia” below, along with the complete tracklist for Mosaic.
