Pascal Stevenson, a musician based in LA, has ventured into experimental pop music as Fashion Club. Her upcoming sophomore album, A Love You Cannot Shake, is scheduled for release this fall. Notable for her work with bands like Moaning and touring with Girlpool, Sasami, and Cherry Glazerr, Stevenson collaborated with Julie Byrne on “Rotten Mind,” a track on the album. The latest single from Fashion Club features Perfume Genius.
Stevenson’s debut album under the Fashion Club moniker, Scrutiny, was released a couple of years ago. “Forget,” the new single from the upcoming album, marks Stevenson’s first LP as an acknowledgment of her identity as a trans woman. The song, featuring a duet with Mike Hadreas of Perfume Genius, delivers an expansive pop sound that culminates in a grand crescendo, resonating with Perfume Genius fans.
“Forget” by Stevenson serves as a dialogue between her present self and her past. Reflecting on the concept behind the song, she shares, “It’s trying to love a version of myself that I’ve spent so long trying to distance from.” Both Stevenson and Mike Hadreas star in the video for the track directed by Jimmy Whispers. Besides, Mike Hadreas has recently contributed songs to the indie film National Anthem.
