Recently, we highlighted Pascal Stevenson’s innovative project Fashion Club as a Band To Watch ahead of their upcoming album A Love You Cannot Shake. This latest work features collaborations with artists like Julie Byrne and Perfume Genius, and today’s new track “Ghost” includes backing vocals from Melina Duterte of Jay Som.
The song “Ghost” explores themes of “lost time” and the futility of dwelling on it. Set against glitchy synths, Stevenson reflects: “What if it’s all in my mind?/ Intertwined in the work that I’ve maligned/ I leave the ghost behind/ Knowing that I turned out fine.” In a press release, she elaborated on the song’s meaning:
This track represents a dialogue between my younger and older selves. I want to convey that there’s no wasted time. Dwelling on the past achieves nothing, and ultimately, everything turns out okay. It also captures that anxious moment when I overthink things, thinking, “I can’t do it,” only to later realize it was easier than I imagined.

A Love You Cannot Shake will be released on October 25 through Felte.
