Benny The Butcher, known for his hard-hitting Buffalo rap, has been on a productive streak with multiple releases this year. Following his Def Jam album “Everybody Can’t Go” and the Black Soprano Family crew’s “Summertime Butch” album, Benny has now dropped a new EP featuring three tracks, each with a notable guest appearance, including Drake.
The collaboration between Benny and Drake has been long-awaited. Drake has been vocal about his admiration for Benny and the Griselda Records team for some time. The track titled “Buffalo Freestyle” was teased by Benny as early as the 2021 Summer Smash festival and has finally surfaced on the new “Buffalo Butch Vol. 1” EP. However, the EP is not universally available on all streaming platforms, with Apple Music notably missing it. On Spotify, “Buffalo Butch” is accessible, but the Drake collaboration is currently unavailable, possibly due to clearance issues. Nevertheless, the song has made its way into the world in some form.
“Buffalo Freestyle” presents a laid-back vibe with Drake and Benny effortlessly flowing over a beat, giving off a timeless essence that could have been recorded at any point in the last five years. The EP also contains tracks with Fabolous and 38 Spesh, offering a diverse musical experience.
The status of the “Buffalo Butch Vol. 1” EP’s release on Black Soprano Family remains uncertain. An inquiry has been made to Benny’s publicist for clarification, and this post will be updated accordingly. Meanwhile, you can delve into our recent interview with Benny for more insights.
