On Tuesday, October 22, drummer Alex Van Halen will release his memoir titled Brothers, reflecting on his bond with his late brother, the legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen. To honor this occasion, Alex has unveiled the complete six-minute track “Unfinished,” which is the last song they co-wrote and recorded.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, his first since Eddie’s death in 2020, Alex revealed that while there are many unreleased Van Halen tracks, very few are complete and even fewer include vocals. He mentioned that he contacted OpenAI to explore the playing style of Eddie, hoping it could assist in crafting new guitar solos. Additionally, he mentioned a vocalist he envisions for the project: “Ideally, it’d be Robert Plant,” he remarked. “You might think I’m crazy, but when the timing is right, things will come together.”
