Mat Kerekes, the talented frontman of the Toledo emo band Citizen, has been captivating audiences with his solo work for more than ten years. His latest album, To Dream Of Something Wicked, was released on October 18, and it marks his fourth studio effort, showcasing his softer, more melodic side.
The album kicks off with “My Lonely Ghost,” a powerful track that sets the tone for a collection filled with heartfelt acoustic melodies and profound lyrics. A standout line reflects the emotional depth of the song: “Now you’re in fields of debris, your ashes growing with the weeds/ And in my dreams I bury you in a better place, where all the bluebirds sing.” Additionally, he collaborates with Rachel Bobbit on the tender track “Always Right,” and pairs with Shanon for the upbeat “I Think I Saw You On TV.” You can check out their work below.
The album To Dream Of Something Wicked is now available under Wax Bodega.
