Eminem recently unveiled his new single “Tobey,” featuring fellow Detroit rappers Big Sean and BabyTron. This track follows the release of his song “Houdini” and the announcement of his upcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
“Tobey” is a return to Eminem’s roots of pure rap without gimmicks. Co-produced by Eminem and a team of producers, the song features intricate verses from all three artists. Eminem addresses a diss from rap pioneer Melle Mel in his verse, emphasizing his status in the industry.
Collaborating with Big Sean is not new for Eminem, as they have previously worked together on tracks like “Detroit Vs. Everybody” and “Friday Night Cypher.” BabyTron, a rising underground artist, contributes to the song with a catchy hook and verse, making it his most high-profile collaboration yet.
The album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) is scheduled for release on 7/12. A music video for “Tobey,” directed by Cole Bennett, will be released on 7/5.
