Duster, the influential ’90s slowcore band from San Jose, has had an interesting journey from being relatively unknown to becoming a well-loved group. Formed in 1996 and disbanded in 2001, Duster made a comeback in 2018, releasing more albums and becoming part of the shoegaze revival. The band, now a duo after the departure of Jason Albertini, surprises fans with their latest album Together in 2022 alongside related projects like Remote Echoes.
Teaming up with the North Carolina instrumental hip-hop duo Dirty Art Club, Duster has quietly dropped two new tracks, “Anhedonia II” and “Ecstasy Cowgirl.” These near-instrumental pieces have a moody and meditative vibe, subtly exploring new sounds and rhythmic directions. “Anhedonia II” and “Ecstasy Cowgirl” mark an evolution in Duster’s music style.
