Donnie & Joe Emerson Make a Triumphant Return with Their First New Tracks in Over Three Decades

Donnie & Joe Emerson Release First New Songs In Over 30 Years

In 1979, Donnie and Joe Emerson, two brothers from Fruitland, Washington, released the little-known album Dreamin’ Wild. Over time, this album gained recognition after being covered by artists like Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and Dâm-Funk in 2012. Its revival was furthered by Light In The Attic, which reissued the album. The track “Baby” eventually became an underground success. Last year, the brothers’ story was brought to the big screen with Casey Affleck and Walton Goggins starring in the film Dreamin’ Wild. Now, they are set to unveil new music after a long hiatus.

As highlighted in a press release, Thomas Brenneck, known for his work with the Bodos Band and Dap-Kings, recorded new tracks from the Emerson brothers during a casual session at Dunham Studios in New York over a decade ago. This session occurred in the summer of 2013 after the duo performed at the Mercury Lounge. The songs “Searching” and “Finally Found Someone”—both reflective and smooth blue-eyed soul tracks—were penned by Donnie Emerson and were recorded with a spirited approach by Brenneck. These tunes are now being released on a 7-inch vinyl by Light In The Attic, marking the first new music from the Emersons in over 30 years.

The upcoming single “Searching” b/w “Finally Found Someone” is arriving just as Donnie Emerson, alongside his wife and musical partner Nancy Sophia, gears up for a West Coast tour featuring songs from Dreamin’ Wild.
