The band A Place To Bury Strangers has released new singles, “Disgust” and “You Got Me,” from their upcoming album Synthesizer. Today, they introduce another track titled “Bad Idea.”
According to frontman Oliver Ackermann, the song originated when bassist John Fedowitz brought a basic looping drum beat to the studio, labeling it his “bad idea” since he felt unsure about it. After jotting down some lyrics, the band worked together, leading to the final product that captures a spontaneous and creative spirit infused with self-doubt, creating something truly special.
Nick Kulp, who directed the music video, shared his insights:
Having been involved with the band for visuals and lighting during their tours since 2022, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the evolution of Synthesizer. When they began performing “Bad Idea” in 2023, I instantly fell for it. It’s an energetic live song that makes creating visuals for it a blast. As conversations about the new album video commenced, I felt honored to be asked to direct this project. Since December 2023, I’ve documented the band both on tour and in rehearsal, using my Hi8 camera to capture their live energy and chaos—it’s been an exhilarating experience!

The album Synthesizer will be released on October 4th through Dedstrange.
