Discover Soul Asylum’s Latest Song “Freak Accident”

Soul Asylum – “Freak Accident”

The iconic Minneapolis band Soul Asylum, known for their old-soul vibe from their early days, is embracing their veteran status with the upcoming release of Slowly But Shirley. The new album was recorded live with their long-time producer Steve Jordan. Following their lead single “High Road,” Soul Asylum is giving fans a taste of their new track “Freak Accident.”

“Freak Accident” has been a beloved live performance for the band and is now officially part of their discography. This semi-acoustic track has a clever, rugged charm with an infectious chorus reminiscent of Tom Petty. Frontman Dave Pirner describes the song as being born out of personal experiences and emotions, stating, “It’s built from experience and pain and shame. The joke’s always on me, let’s just put it that way. Everyone makes mistakes.” Watch the music video below.

Slowly But Shirley is set to be released on 9/27 under Blue Elan Records.
