Originating from Baltimore, Praise specializes in delivering heartfelt and sincere melodic hardcore, reminiscent of the music scene from Washington, DC in the ’80s and ’90s. The band comprises members who have been part of notable groups like Have Heart, Mindset, Champion, Give, and Protester, with Daniel Fang from Turnstile as their regular drummer. After a six-year hiatus, Praise made a powerful return in 2022 with the release of their acclaimed album All In A Dream. Today, they surprise fans with a compelling three-song EP.
Despite living in different parts of the country, Praise managed to come together to record the new EP Coming Up For Air with the assistance of engineer Matt Redenbo. Notably, Daniel Fang did not contribute to this EP; instead, Slow Fire Pistol’s Blake Hall took over drumming duties. Haley Butters from Pale Green Stars provides backup vocals on the energetic closing track “Chasing Colors,” creating an emotionally gratifying listening experience. Guitarist Anthony Dye shares insights about the EP:
Reflecting on our work on All In A Dream, we placed a strong emphasis on meticulous attention to detail and utilized all studio resources to add depth and intricacy to our sound.
Conversely, the new EP aimed to challenge that meticulous approach by striving for a more organic sound, akin to a seamless musical flow naturally emanating from the band members playing together in one room.
