Stream Cass McCombs’ Surprise New Album Of Previously Unreleased Recordings Seed Cake On Leap Year

Eclectic artist Cass McCombs keeps his fans guessing with his latest moves. After teaming up with Mr. Greg for a children’s music album and playing guitar on Jennifer Castle’s track “Lucky #8,” he has announced a short tour and has reissued some of his earlier works. In a surprising twist, he has dropped a new album featuring recordings that date back nearly 25 years.

Back with Domino Records, McCombs has re-released his 2002 EP Not The Way along with the albums A from 2003 and PREfection from 2005. Simultaneously, he unveiled Seed Cake On Leap Year, an album that had been in waiting for decades. This album was recorded between 1999 and 2000 in San Francisco with Jason Quever, the leader of Papercuts and a longtime collaborator of McCombs (who will also be supporting him at some upcoming shows).

The 10-track LP Seed Cake On Leap Year seamlessly fits into the more laid-back acoustic side of McCombs’ work. If it had been released without any context regarding its age, one might think it was a new record—his talent has clearly been consistent over the years! Below, you can listen to Seed Cake On Leap Year and find details about his upcoming performances.
