Philly’s power-pop sensation, 2nd Grade, led by Peter Gill, has returned with three captivating tracks from their upcoming album. Titled Scheduled Explosions, this LP is set to feature 23 songs, which will be available next month. For now, fans can enjoy these three tracks: the melancholic and flowing “Made Up My Own Mind,” the fuzz-laden “Out Of The Hive,” and the gentle beauty “Airlift.” Each of these songs is exceptionally good.
The lead single, “Made Up My Own Mind,” has a profound background shared by Gill:
While cycling in downtown Philadelphia, I crafted the melody. Lyrically, it serves as a celebration of individuality, filled with clichés. Though I offer a sardonic viewpoint, I hope the song can also be perceived as a pure, optimistic pop expression.
