Releasing a track titled “God Dick” demands a boldness that is quite rare. This is especially true when the composition itself is a deep, operatic, and experimental piece of art-pop. Currently, Haley Fohr, known as Circuit Des Yeux, exudes an impressive sense of self-assurance, which can make her a formidable artist.
After a three-year hiatus since her album -io, Fohr has revealed plans for a series of full-band performances in the US and Europe next year. She has also unveiled the powerful new single “God Dick,” featuring her resonant vocals woven with dynamic strings and electronic rhythms. Fohr not only provided the lead vocals but also arranged the strings and choir. Collaborating with her were Andrew Broder from Fog, who assisted with string arrangements and percussion programming, and Jim White, known for his work with Dirty Three, on drums. Fohr shares her insight on the track:
“God Dick” acts as a transformative journey, bridging the past with future possibilities. It embodies a sweaty, evolving cacophony—grand and unstoppable. I crafted it to express a deep yearning and envisioned something immense trapped within too small a form—a love banshee breaking free bit by bit until the hidden force is fully revealed.
