Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry Collaborates with HEALTH on a New Version of “Ashamed”

Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry Joins HEALTH On New Version Of “Ashamed”

Do you remember the past conflict between Chvrches and Hatebreed? It was quite a moment. Back in 2019, the Scottish synthpop band Chvrches performed at Deftones’ Día De Los Deftones festival, which raised issues with Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta regarding the band’s placement above Gojira. Chvrches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry, in response, emphasized her appreciation for various music genres regardless of her pop music background. Now, Mayberry has unveiled a notably heavier track in her musical journey.

While the LA band HEALTH may not embody heaviness in the same manner as Hatebreed or Gojira, they recently delivered a cover of Deftones. Their distinct clanking, quasi-industrial sound stands in stark contrast to Mayberry’s usual musical style, whether with Chvrches or her solo work. Mayberry has released a few solo singles, with “Change Shapes” being her most recent release in March. HEALTH has now presented a fresh rendition of “Ashamed,” a single from their 2023 album Rat Wars. In this remix, HEALTH’s Jake Duzsik shares lead vocals with Mayberry, blending their delicate voices against the backdrop of buzzing, stabbing synths in the track. Listen to both the remix and the original HEALTH track below.

The remix of “Ashamed” is now available on Loma Vista.
