Christopher Owens, the former frontman of the band Girls, has announced his first solo album in nine years titled “I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair.” This marks Owens’ return to music after facing challenges like a motorcycle accident, homelessness, and the passing of his former Girls partner. The upcoming album, co-produced by Owens and Doug Boehm, features deeply personal themes and marks a significant step in his musical journey since his last solo release in 2015.
The album, featuring a collaboration with Girls’ companion Sandy Kim, is set to be released on True Panther records, the same label that released Girls’ music. Owens describes the album as a reflection on self-discovery and finding inner peace. He shares a thought-provoking quote that inspired his introspection on the concept of gaining back one’s soul amidst losing everything in the world.
Featuring tracks like “No Good” and “This Is My Guitar,” the album includes the previously released song “I Think About Heaven.” Additionally, Owens has unveiled a solo-acoustic performance video of “No Good,” directed by Rebekah Sherman-Myntti. The album’s tracklist includes a total of 10 songs that delve into Owens’ emotional and artistic depth.
