Christopher Owens – “This Is My Guitar”

Christopher Owens Prepares for New Album Release

The talented Christopher Owens, best known as the frontman of the beloved indie rock band Girls, is set to unveil his latest solo album, I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair, which marks his first release in nearly a decade. In this project, he candidly reflects on a variety of significant life challenges, including experiences with homelessness, a serious motorcycle accident, and the loss of his bandmate Chet “JR” White. We’ve already shared two of his tracks, “I Think About Heaven” and “No Good,” and now he has a new single out.

New Single: “This Is My Guitar”

For his latest track, “This Is My Guitar,” Christopher has collaborated with producer Ariel Rechtshaid and Jacob Portrait from Unknown Mortal Orchestra. The song features a beautiful acoustic vibe, exploring themes of resilience amidst adversity: “I know it’s hard not to feel like you’ve been broken when so much love is missing from the start/ And I know it’s hard not to feel like you’re alone in a world that’s lost and spinning in the dark.” The chorus carries a heartfelt plea for support, blending both delicate and profound emotions.

Listen to Both Versions

In addition to the studio version, Owens has also released an intimate solo-acoustic performance video of “This Is My Guitar.” Enjoy both renditions of the song below.
