Brandon Williams from Whitby, Ontario, known as Chastity, creates melancholic and ethereal music. His upcoming self-titled album is set to be released next month. Previously, the songs “Jaw Locked” and “Summer All Over Again” were shared, and today he introduces a new track called “Offing.”
Unlike typical Chastity songs that lean towards intense, gloomy shoegaze, “Offing” takes a more direct and conventional approach. Although still carrying a somber tone, the song touches upon thoughts of suicide, accentuated by the bright and twangy guitars. In a statement, Brandon Williams describes it as, “This is the most country the project’s ever gone, some townie emo. A song about getting my meds mixed and thinking about death, approval of others, living to see another day.” Take a listen below.
Chastity will be available on 9/13 via Deathwish/Dine Alone/Big Scary Monsters.
