Burial, known for his recent single “Dreamfear” b/w “Boy Sent Above” with XL, continues his collaboration with Hyperdub’s Kode9, also known as Steve Goodman. Their previous split release last summer was followed by a new joint project being unveiled today.
The latest 12″ split by Burial and Kode9 features “Phoneglow,” a track with a more mainstream appeal compared to Burial’s typical sound. The song, spanning nine minutes, incorporates pop-R&B vocals that deviate from Burial’s usual ethereal style. On the flip side, Kode9 presents “Eyes Go Blank,” a five-minute piece with a darker and more intense vibe that blurs the lines between avant-pop and dance music, despite its prominent drum ‘n’ bass breakbeats. Listen to both tracks below.
Phoneglow/Eyes Go Blank will be officially released on 6/18 via Hyperdub. Pre-order available here.
