Next month, fans of indie rock will be treated to the first album, words from a wishing well, by the Brooklyn-based band, Shower Curtain, who hail from Brazil. They have already released two singles, “edgar” and “wish u well,” both of which have been well-received. Today, they unveil a new track titled “benadryl man.”
The song “benadryl man” showcases Shower Curtain’s blend of grunge and shoegaze elements, featuring Victoria Winter’s distinct vocals alongside thick, layered guitar sounds, as well as violin and cello. The song delves into themes of anxiety with lines like, “I’m alone in this house, no one’s coming to check me out/ Because every time I go to bed, there’s a man sitting on the edge,” suggesting a sense of unease possibly linked to overmedication.

words from a wishing well will be released on 10/18 by Angel Tapes/Fire Talk.
