Hailing from Washington, DC, Bad Moves creates energetic DIY power-pop. Recently, they have unveiled singles like “New Year’s Reprieve,” “Let Rats Inherit The Earth,” and “Hallelujah,” building anticipation for their upcoming album Wearing Out The Refrain. This album, co-produced by David Combs and Joe Reinhart of Hop Along/Algernon Cadwallader, is set to release next month. The band has just dropped another single, accompanied by a star-studded video featuring alternative comedy icons.
Titled “Outta My Head,” Bad Moves’ latest single is an infectious punk-pop anthem with a memorable chorus, exuding a vibrant Superchunk/Ted Leo vibe. Adding to its appeal is the all-star cast in the music video. The visual portrays everyday individuals, including the band members, sporting protective collars akin to those worn by dogs recovering from surgery. The humorous scenarios involve struggles with phones and wine glasses, making for an entertaining watch.
In the “Outta My Head” video, Bad Moves and renowned comedians Margaret Cho, Josh Gondelman, and Chris Gethard sport the cone collars, joined by appearances from various artists like Martha, Cheekface, Suzie True, and Chris Farren. The video transitions from the comedic daily life struggles to a lively Bad Moves concert, serving as a cathartic release for the characters. Co-directed by David Combs, Benjamin Epstein, Guillan Leonardo, and Kate Sweeney, the video is a delightful visual accompaniment to the music.
Wearing Out The Refrain will be available on 9/13 via Don Giovanni.
