Anthony Davis, also known as Ant, has been a member of the renowned hip-hop duo, Atmosphere, alongside rapper Slug (Sean Daley) since 1996. Today, the talented DJ and producer from Minneapolis is unveiling his first solo album titled Collection Of Sounds: Volume 1, set to be released this autumn. The singles “Leather Soul” and “That Old Bongo Joint” are already available.
Collection Of Sounds: Volume 1 is a significant musical project consisting of four parts of instrumentals. In a statement, Ant expressed his boldness in compiling music he has created over the past three decades into what he considers great art.
He shared, “I create music nearly every day when I’m not touring, and I have been doing so for a large part of my adult life, probably from the age of 15.” Ant attributes his passion for music to his father who nurtured his musical interests. Reflecting on his father’s influence, he mentioned, “He had a taste for funk, jazz, soul, and more. In my younger years, he introduced me to various genres without distinguishing between artists, be it Grandmaster Flash or Rick James. To him, it was all music; it was all about the love for music.”
