“Alone Together” by Daughter of Swords: A Soulful Journey through Sound

Daughter Of Swords – “Alone Together”

After a four-year hiatus, Daughter Of Swords, the musical endeavor of North Carolina’s Alex Sauser-Monnig, who is also part of Mountain Man, has released new music. Their initial album, Dawnbringer, came out in 2019, with a few tracks following in 2020. Today marks the debut of their latest single, “Alone Together.”

Sauser-Monnig described “Alone Together” as a reflection on the human desire for connection, especially when life feels complete yet isolated. She noted how the process of recording the song required a sense of openness and community to transform it into something real.

The track is an upbeat indie rock piece with relatable lyrics like “But I don’t really want to see anybody/ Except my friends and my dog and my paycheck money,” delivered in Sauser-Monnig’s signature drawl. Numerous friends contributed to the song, including Amelia Meath (of Sylvan Esso and Mountain Man), Nick Sanborn (Sylvan Esso, Made Of Oak), Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock Of Dimes), TJ Maiani (Weyes Blood, Neneh Cherry), and Caleb Wright (Hippo Campus, Samia).

The upcoming album from Daughter Of Swords is set to be released next year. In the meantime, you can listen to “Alone Together” below.

“Alone Together” is now available through Psychic Hotline.
