Introducing Abdomen: A Unique Sound
Abdomen is a quirky name for a Dutch rock band. This power trio specializes in vibrant, psychedelic rock and has been creating music since 2016, debuting with their album Emetophobia. Now, with a new partnership with FatCat Records, they are set to release a follow-up album titled Yes, I Don’t Know early next year, featuring its energetic title track.
Creative Process Amidst Challenges
The pandemic significantly affected Abdomen’s workflow, leading them to spend two years crafting Yes, I Don’t Know. Their recording sessions took place in Denmark under the guidance of producer Rasmus Bredvig. The title track stands out as a gritty rocker, characterized by an intense build-up and a strong sense of tension. Drummer Roel Meijer describes the song as capturing the feeling of being overwhelmed, filled with noise and confusion while yearning for peace and normalcy.
Music Video and Performance
The music video for “Yes, I Don’t Know” features the band performing in front of an audience of seated mannequins—a clever nod to their live performance experience. The playful details in the visuals add an extra layer of intrigue. You can check out the video below for a taste of their unique style.
