Pharrell Williams has been involved with Music for the last three films in the Despicable Me series, and while most of his work has been forgotten, one song stands out. “Happy,” released for 2013’s Despicable Me 2, became a massive hit. Despite its success, not everyone was a fan. With the upcoming release of Despicable Me 4 next month, featuring the unexpected screenwriting of Mike White, one of the minds behind indie hits like the White Lotus and family films like School of Rock, Pharrell dropped a new track for the movie soundtrack titled “Double Life.”
“Double Life” doesn’t follow the theme of happiness like “Happy” did, centering instead around keeping secrets. This choice may make it less suitable for repeated plays at birthday parties.
