In a Rolling Stone interview back in 2004, Smith expressed disdain for the band, stating, “I never liked Queen… I can honestly say I hated Queen and everything that they did… So, no, I don’t like the Darkness at all. I think they’re a comedy band.”
Recently, Justin Hawkins shared on TikTok that he took Smith’s comments to heart and admitted he “may have indeed heckled [Smith] once,” but he regards Smith as one of his favorite vocalists. Hawkins complimented Smith’s performance on “Alone,” noting, “He’s not just emoting, he’s properly singing.”
