89-Year-Old Herb Alpert Announces 50th Album

Herb Alpert, 89, Set to Release 50th Album on TunesDeck

Herb Alpert, the renowned trumpeter, has had a remarkable journey in the music industry. He co-wrote “Wonderful World” for Sam Cooke 64 years ago. In the ’60s, Alpert and his band, the Tijuana Brass, gained immense popularity with their easy-listening instrumental music. Their album Whipped Cream And Other Delights was the highest-selling LP in 1966. Alpert also achieved success with hits like “This Guy’s In Love With You” and “Rise.” He co-founded A&M Records and continued producing hits with artists like Janet Jackson in the ’80s. Despite his age, he continues to make music, which is truly remarkable.

Today, the 89-year-old Herb Alpert announced his upcoming 50th studio album titled 50, following his 2023 album Wish Upon A Star. While not the oldest to release a new album, Alpert’s dedication to music is evident. The album 50 also marks his 50th wedding anniversary, a significant milestone for him. Alpert expressed:

“I am fortunate to still be exploring and having fun making music. When I first started recording, I had a one-track wire recorder. Today, I make music using digital recording with unlimited tracks. What remains constant for me is the quest for a great song or melody, regardless of the recording technology.”

Accompanying the album announcement is the release of the lively instrumental track “Dancing Down 50th Street.” The tracklist for the album is as follows:

  • “Dancing Down 50th Street”
  • “Sh-Boom”
  • “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”
  • “Baubles, Bangles And Beads”
  • “Morning Mist”
  • “Never Too Late”
  • “Where Do We Go From Here”
  • “Sleep Walk”
  • “Corcovado”
  • “Jeannine”

50 will be released on 9/20.
