Reviews

  • My first Linda Ronstadt album.

A friend of mine, Eric Kaneshiro, was a die hard Linda Ronstadt fan. He knew the lyrics to all her songs and could not understand why I did not listen to her. The truth is I had heard a few of her songs and thought she was a very good singer but I was not a super fan like he was. Just a casual listener. Then he bought me this album and all that changed. This album turned me into a super fan. Absolute perfection.

Love this album for the variety. And Linda’s voice is beyond beautiful on this album.

I am a huge fan of Linda Rondstadt and have been listening to her music for the last 40+ years. I really like everything she did regarddless of the genre, or whether it was solo, duet or with Dolly and Emmylou, but, this has to be my favorite album of them all! Call me crazy if you will but there is something about that album that makes me listen to it over and over again. Maybe because it is a sample of what Mrs. Rondstadt can do with her voice in this multi genre, multi tempo album? Go figure. "Get closer" and listen to it again, you will know what I am talking about. Enjoy!
  • A mixed bag

This album came between Linda’s late ‘70s/1980 pop rock superstardom and her collaboration with Nelson Riddle exploring the great American songbook. Some of the songs were left over from sessions from previous albums; the rest were newly recorded and mostly stick to her formula of covering oldies. The best thing to come from this album was Linda discovering Jimmy Webb, whose songs she’d cover extremely well on future albums. “Easy For You To Say” and “Mr. Radio” are my favorites from this mixed bag.
  • Different direction but that's ok

As an artist, it's good to stretch out and try new things. Although this isn't 1 of my favorite album of her's it's still note worthy with tracks like 'Easy For You To Say' 'Get Closer' 'The Moon' 'I Think It's Gonna Work Out Fine' & 'Mr. Radio'. I like alot of the bass driven tracks. One other note, with most of her CDs being out of print (this particular one selling the highest 2nd hand for around 25+ dollars, getting it here is quite a deal).
  • One hidden gem

Not one of her better albums but decent enough for fans. However there is one hidden gem I must bring to your notice. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is the gem I refer to. The power of the high notes Linda hits in his song is simply amazing and while a cover that others have recorded she gives it a unique feel. It shows that back in the day Linda had one of the most amazing voices in music.
