Herbie Hancock is just as relevant today as 1973. Still enjoying his jazz/funk.

Incredible is what this album is - funky, heavy grooves for days, and just what you need going through your head.

Wow! Though this recording was a huge commercial success (Chameleon) , the playing by each musician on every song is otherworldly. Hancock’s solo on Sly is worth the price of admission. Few artists can build a solo and explode like Hancock. A great recording and hallmark performance of the 70s fusion era. Smooth jazz has taken many lessons from this ground breaking recording. Enjoy!

Every track on here is so memorable, and that’s saying something considering that most of these are 10 minutes long! It never overstays it’s welcome and it’s funky from front to back.

Got a long boring drive and got a buzz on? This is the ticket to maintaining a positive attitude during heavy traffic. Believe me. I bought it on vinyl and then cassette and finallyon compact disc. Gotta have a Headhunters fix once a week.

Not much needs to be said; the album speaks for itself. Herbie’s solo at 5:24 in Sly is out of this world.

I remembered Head Hunters while growing up in the Lafayette Garden projects in Brooklyn, NY in the early 1970s. Brings back memories of great jazz, and R&B acts.
